OVERVIEW

The original sword fighting action game series, Onee Chanbara, has been brought back to life on PS4 in full HD! It offers a new take on the story of the two half-sisters, Aya and Saki, who are bound by their mutual hatred for one another and locked in a brutal fight to the death. In addition, all the main characters have been redesigned by the one and only Katsumi Enami. All shall be revealed in the recreated re-release of the classic that started it all: Onee Chanbara Origin!

STORY

STORY

In the year 20XX AD, Tokyo is nothing but a dystopic wasteland overrun by living corpses known as the Undead. Here we find two sisters who descend from a long line of expert swordsmen, yet were born to different mothers. The elder sister, Aya, was raised by her father, who subjected her to rigorous training in the way of the blade. Meanwhile, the younger sister, Saki, was raised by her mother, learning to despise her father for abandoning them and taking her sister away.
When her father goes missing, Aya decides to put her skills with the sword to use as an Undead-hunter. Upon her beloved mother's murder, Saki becomes consumed to the point of insanity with a desperate thirst for revenge, resorting to manipulating the Undead to achieve her goal.
Aya resolves to seek out her younger sister, her only surviving relation, while Saki is determined to resurrect her mother using an ancient art passed down through the ages. This art, however, requires the heart of a blood relative to work, meaning that the younger sister must kill the elder if she is to have her sworn vengeance.
And so, amidst a swirling storm of love, hate, and intrigue, the battle between the two sisters begins.

    A beautiful mistress of the sword who carries on the ancient tradition of the Baneful Bloodline as an assassin by trade. Naturally capable of incredible swordsmanship. Aya lived alone from childhood with her father Oboro, an accomplished swordsman who trained her mercilessly on a daily basis until she because his equal at a young age. One day, her stepmother Tsubaki was suddenly murdered by someone, and learning this, Aya's father suddenly vanished. Now on her own, Aya worked as an Undead hunter with the help of a woman going by the name of ei, who contacted her offering to provide services as an informant. Aya's plan was to continue slaughtering Undead until she could find her father Oboro someday, and reconnect with her younger half-sister, Saki.

    Aya's sister from a different mother. Since her father Oboro took Aya and left home when she was young, Saki's only emotional support was provided by her kind mother, Tsubaki. One day, however, someone stole her mother's life away, and with it the foundation of Saki's entire life. After learning that the ones who killed her mother were her father, who had discarded her and her mother, and her older half sister Aya, Saki took up the sword and began training for revenge. Saki also learned that there existed an ancient art that could bring her mother back to life. To do this, she would need the heart of a member of the same Baneful Bloodline as her mother. Saki plotted to summon and control the Undead with her powers, in order to lure Aya into a trap. It was all a part of her plan to steal the heart of her hated sister, and to use it to resurrect her mother.

    Another Undead hunter who contacts Aya as an informant. In return for Aya hunting down the Undead based on Lei's intel, Lei looks for information on Aya's missing family members as a business partner. Lei contacts Aya and issues various instructions. Aya knows almost nothing about Lei's origin, and mysteries still abound. One thing Aya does know, however, is that Lei also has sisters.er identity or background, except that she seems to have sisters.

    A master swordsman and the father of both Aya and Saki. An assassin by profession, he began training Aya in the way of the blade from an early age. Supposedly, he once worked with his wife Tsubaki to bring down an organization that exploited the Baneful Bloodline for its own ends. The moment Oboro learns of Tsubaki's murder, he takes off, and when next he meets his beloved daughter, he seems disturbed. He rushes at Aya and attacks her, swearing to avenge Tsubaki.

    She manipulated Saki with her silver tongue to turn her against Aya and Oboro, and appears to be the one responsible for the murder of Tsubaki. By stealing the heart of one of the Baneful Bloodline, she was able to acquire incredible abilities. She is pursued by the vengeful Oboro, while his two daughters follow in their wake.
